Climate Justice & Innovation

Climate Justice & Innovation
Climate change is not gender neutral. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, environmental degradation, climate shocks, conflict and displacement intersect with existing inequalities, disproportionately affecting women, girls and marginalized communities. Loss of livelihoods, pressure on land and natural resources, displacement and disruption of essential services can increase exposure to poverty, violence and exclusion while limiting women’s ability to exercise their rights and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
Our Approach
Resilience & Leadership
We strengthen the resilience and leadership of women and communities affected by climate and conflict.
Meaningful Participation
We promote meaningful participation in climate and environmental decision-making.
Protecting Rights
We advocate for responses that protect women’s rights, bodily autonomy, health, safety and access to resources.
Harnessing Innovation
We also harness innovation and technology to make communities more informed, connected and resilient. Through digital platforms, community-led solutions, research and evidence, we explore innovative ways to improve access to information and essential services, strengthen preparedness and amplify the voices of women and marginalized communities. We envision a future where climate solutions are not only sustainable, but also just, inclusive and transformative.
