Access to Justice and Legal Empowerment

Rights have limited meaning when people cannot understand, exercise or defend them.
Overcoming Barriers
In the DRC, financial barriers, limited legal awareness, discrimination and weaknesses in institutions can make justice inaccessible, particularly for women, survivors of gender-based violence and marginalized communities.
Bridging the Gap
Repro Justice Congo works to bridge the gap between rights recognized in law and rights experienced in everyday life.
Our Approach
Legal Aid & Empowerment
We help individuals understand and claim their rights, ensuring that marginalized communities can defend themselves effectively.
Strategic Litigation
We seek remedies for individuals while challenging discriminatory practices and strengthening legal protections.
Systemic Reform
We contribute to jurisprudence and institutional reform, particularly in relation to sexual and reproductive rights.
Our Vision for a Just Society
For us, access to justice is both individual and transformative. Experiences from communities generate evidence; evidence informs advocacy and litigation; and these actions can contribute to lasting changes in laws, policies and institutional practices. We envision a justice system in which dignity and rights are protected regardless of a person’s gender, identity, economic situation or social status.
